It depends on the plant. Sometimes it makes a difference and sometimes it doesn't. Most house plants like warm water and others like cold. Some don't care, as long as it's wet. If it too hot, like boiling, it could kill it. But you can put ice cubes around most plants so the moisture is released slowly and it won't make any difference.
