I'm not canadian and I refer to Mexico as Central America. If you google it "north America", you're right, I realize that the maps there and wikipedia says that it's part of North America, but yet if you google "Central America", you'll realize it's that too.

I don't think ther eare any hard and fast official borders of the continents. It is pretty arbitrary.
People are pretty unclear on where Europe stops and Asia begins too.
E.g. which continent are these countries on?
1 - Russia
2 - Israel
3 - UAE
4 - Iran
5 - Afghanistan
6 - Kyrzigstan
7 - China
8 - India
9- Turkey

Mexico could be located in North u . s . whilst South u . s . starts off with Colombia. In Canada's attitude, Mexico could be interior the "south" of North u . s . yet everywhere around the globe, Mexico is in North u . s ..
