Bush didn't veto any bill saying that.
There hasn't even been a bill saying that so far.
The issue, just made it out of committee last week.
Neither the House nor the Senate, has voted on such a bill.

That's not what the bill says. Read it:
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c110:H.RES.106:
It's a non-binding resolution. I'll be surprised if it comes up for a vote on the House floor.
And I do think the timing is poor. National security interests should outweigh the interests of such a small minority in the U.S., as tragic as those events were.
But the reality of political campaign contributions allows a small, but well-funded and well-organized group of people to interfere with larger American interests, alliances, and possibly even the safety of American soldiers.
It won't matter if Bush vetoes the bill - if it passes on a vote in the House, the Turks will be outraged. It looks like they're suiting up for a raid into Northern Iraq anyway, since it seems the PKK killed another Turkish soldier in Simak province, near the Iraq border today.

Actually this is one of the very few things I agree with Bush on. The so called genocide happened 92 years ago by the OTTOMAN government. That government was overthrown and Turkey has a more modern government. In 1923 Mustafa Kemal Atatürk started the new government after he led the rebellion against the Sultan. The incident with the Armenians was in 1915 and was one of several reasons for the rebellion against Sultan Mehmed IV and the founding of the Turkish Republic.

As a rule anything the Bush Junta does is wrong. But in this case, considering the already overwhelming problems that this administration got us into in Iraq, adding to the problem at this time would be criminal. We have a tremendous amount of military hardware and elements in Turkey...if the Turks decided to send us packing there would be some major problems for us. Of course if the Turks did toss us out it may be all to the good...we'd really have to reconsider our situation in Iraq. In the short term it's best not to add to our problems...in the mid and long term getting out of Iraq would be a good thing...something the 'Decider' will never decide to do!

Gates said good relations with Turkey are vital because 70 percent of the air cargo intended for U.S. forces in Iraq and 30 percent of the fuel consumed by those forces flies through Turkey.
U.S. commanders, Gates said, "believe clearly that access to airfields and roads and so on in Turkey would very much be put at risk if this resolution passes and the Turks react as strongly as we believe they will."
Nabi Sensoy, Turkey's ambassador to the United States, said the resolution's passage would be a "very injurious move to the psyche of the Turkish people."

Bush wants to stay on the good side of the Turks. We need our bases there. Vetoing such a silly peice of legislation is in the US national interest.

The bill was a stupid political move in the first place. Only an idiot would have seen it as having any political validity in this day and age.

The Turkish Government doesn't HAVE to do ANYTHING they don't want to. They certainly don't have to do what we suggest they do.
Why was this ever even an issue in this country in the first place?
