Manny Ramirez
maybe because he is the worst fielder in the game, a prolific underachiever ( his numbers would be far greater if he had ANY work ethic), a terrible teammate, barely speaks english( been in this country since he was a little kid-22years- shows how lazy he really is), jogs to first base, jogs to balls hit to him in the outfield, sells his gas grill on ebay( what a loser), won't play with minor injuries, poor role model for kids-doesn't sign autographs
these are several reasons cleveland didn't resign him(LAZY BUM)

Many stories portray Ramírez as a carefree, naive individual whose concentration is directed solely on playing baseball. For example, one story took place in his early years with the Cleveland Indians in June 1994. As teammates were gathered in the Indians clubhouse watching news of the O.J. Simpson Bronco chase, Ramirez asked what was going on. A player responded that "they are chasing O.J.", to which Ramirez responded in disbelief, "What did Chad do?" (in reference to their current teammate Chad Ogea, who was likely in the same clubhouse just several feet away).
2.Manny misses several games with pharyngitis amid media speculation that he is well enough to play. When the New York Yankees come to town to play, Manny is still too sick to play, but is seen at the downstairs bar of his hotel with Yankees player and close friend Enrique Wilson.
he is a jerk!

Yes he may be all that you say but remember without him protecting Papi in the batting lineup then papi would not have the numbers he has. So he is good for something.

So the Dude doesn't speak much English? I don't see the crime there? Everytime his teammates talk about him they all seem to like him and praise his work ethic? I'll grant you that he isn't the most graceful fielder but NOBODY plays the wall in Fenway better!
Last I checked the guy has serious game! .300 20 HR 100RBI and that is a down year! This year he struggled and still .295+ and 85 RBI 15+HR 95% of the players wish that was their career year! For MAnny its a way off year! Give the guy some credit his bat skills are insane!
Oh and let's go ask K-Rod how bad Manny is at playing the game! The ball in game 2 still hasn't landed yet!

Manny has an incredible work ethic. Manny is a fantastic hitter and he is a perennial leader in outfield assists. Manny rarely talks to the press, so they trash him.
People from Cleveland probably view him as the one that got away. Unlike Johnny Damon, the Boston Red Sox player who got away, Manny has only improved over time. Manny will go to the HOF....in a Red Sox uniform. MVP in 2004 World Series. Maybe in the 2007 ALCS, who knows?

i do unlike Manny Ramirez and that i'm particular that multiple that probable has to do with the reality that he performs for the purple Sox. That definitely does not help him any. additionally, i individually do not in basic terms like the completed "Manny being Manny" element. it truly is annoying and severe. additionally, the completed "permit me strengthen my palms to the sky each time I hit a homerun whether my group remains down by potential of 10" gets slightly previous. i think of he's an exceptionally sturdy participant yet i'm not probably too prepared on the guy. i assume i've got not got very concrete motives as to why i don't in basic terms like the guy yet I do exactly not. won't look truthful or suitable yet I cant help it.

Yeah, guys with 500 home runs -- underachievers, I agree.
Yeah, bad fielders suck. Manny, Ty Cobb, Paul Molitor, you're right again.
Yeah, English makes a guy play ball better. Look how cruddy Ichiro is, or how bad Tony Perez, Luis Aparichio, and Luis Tiant were. If ONLY Clemente had been born in the US!!!
We could go on. You simply dislike the guy. Okay. I dislike Bonds. Manny is okay by me.

Having watched Manny for many seasons I could care less what he does in the field. The Red Sox win more often when he's in the line up. Plus Manny makes me laugh. The way he losses his helmet from base to base. The almost dropped plays in the outfield. He's sub par personal appearance. You never see Manny get mad. He's always smiling. One the the true hitters of our time and he has fun doing it. I hope he stays in Boston forever.

You can't be ANY MORE incorrect about Manny's work ethic.
LOL @ underachiever. How long have you actually followed baseball for?
Manny is the first one at practice daily - he works harder at his craft than anyone you're going to find.
None of your points are even remotely accurate.
You need to learn more about baseball.
I love disgruntled Yankee fans.
EDIT: Anyone that agrees with the asker of this question when it comes to Manny's work ethic has no idea what they're talking about. NOBODY has every questioned his work ethic, unless you count idiots on Yahoo Answers.

Ive always liked Manny. His swing is amazing! Yea he's got a bad attitude and work ethic but he's a great player and very admirable for children.
The main thing I like about him is with all the steroid BS blowing up and ruining the rep of power hitters Manny kept himself out of the controversy

First off, I agree with the person before me, and people(unlike me) don't like manny because he's kinda slow, and he is probably a really bad fielder. But still he's part of the team and he belted a walkoff home run to beat the halos and if you ever heard of the quote manny jut likes to be manny, then you know what I mean.

"...he is the worst fielder in the game"
This shows you know nothing about him except what you watch on ESPN...minus a few "what was he thinking" plays (which a lot of fielders make) he has made in his career he is a great fielder (career fielding percentage of .979 in left and .978 in right) and plays the green monster better than anyone, he has an absolute cannon for an arm (which often turns doubles into singles), and on top of all that he is one of the best hitters in the league...he has jogged to first base on occasion but more often than not he hustles down the line...you have your facts so skewed because you obviously don't like him...if you don't like a player just say so...don't list things that aren't true so it makes you look like you have a case....gimme a break.

People don't like him (I honestly LOVE Manny) because he doesn't talk to the media and he's set a lot of good numbers. People also dislike him because he is lazy in the outfield.
