HI! My hubbie and I have 6 cats. There is absolutely NO reason for you to get rid of them. I play with them and pet them and act like nothing's changing. You really shouldn't clean the litter boxes if you can help it. Unless you wear protective gear (dust mask & gloves) then scrub your hands IMMEDIATELY after to help reduce the risk of toxoplasmosis. Cats can be protective around babies. I had a friend who layed her baby on a blanket in front of their Christmas tree one year and their cat, Tigger, would curl up next to her. He adored her! Just watch for any scratching. Our plan is to not let them in the baby's room though but definitely slowly introduce them to each other.

Good luck and don't get rid of your kitties-we're not!

as u have heard dont touch the litter tray
but think of it this way when your baby is born you will have so much to do with the baby will you have time for your cats like you do now ??
i dont think so ..so your cats will get jelous like all cats do they will want to be in the babys pram cot bed of any kind anything that smells of baby the cats will want to be there you will need 6 eyes to watch they dont hurt baby
cats go for milk and as i know from a friend who had a cat and a baby the cat tryed to suck the milk from the babys mouth the baby turned blue and was rushed to hospital the cat had nearly suffocated the baby needless to say the cats were gone the next day to another home ... its up to you what you do but i wouldnt take the risk of losing my baby to a jelous cat

Take your cats to the vet to see f they have an active toxoplasmosis infection going on. If they do, ask a friend to keep them while the infection clears up(usually 6 weeks). Ask you partner to change the litter box for you, if that's not possible wear gloves and wash your hands with an antibacterial soap afterwards.

U should not be the one to change the litter box. Someone else needs to do that for u. If u change it u are putting yourself at risk for a disease. U need to think of the baby. When I was pregnant I had 3 cats and my husband was wonderful and always changed the litter.

You can keep your cats - just do not change their litter. There is a risk of something called toxoplasmosis - but if you have had cats for years, chances are you have already been exposed to it and are immune; but to be on the safe side have hubby change the litter (which is a nice chore to be relived off anyways!!)

No you wont have to get rid of your cats but if you clean out a litter tray for them or do any gardening make sure you wear rubber gloves. Better still get someone else to do it for you.

You don't have to get rid of them. Have your husband (or someone else) change the litter box for you, as you can be exposed to toxoplamosis that way. Since you already have cats, you may have already been exposed (you wouldn't know), and already have an immunity to that...

hi, you wont have to get rid of your cats, but you should keep away from their cat litter if they use one.I'm pregnant to and there is nothing else that should be a problem as i have a cat and she has been fine, quite clingy to me though and wants a lot of fuss. good luck with the pregnancy.

hiya congrats on the little one! you dont have to get rid of your cat, like others have said just avoid the cat litter as you can catch toxoplasmosis from the mess.
below is a website that will give you more info about that, as well as other ways to avoid catching it such as eating under-cooked meats etc. it also gives adivce on how to introduce your cats to the new arrival and what to do in advance...good luck hun and enjoy your baby when he/she arrives.....! x
