I do. Don't know what it is and don't know what to do about it. It's loud banging sounds.

Absolutely true, I have the same situation at night. When I feel that I am going to fall asleep, and there are no noises either in my flat or outside, suddenly I hear dry bangs, it seems to me they come from the corners of the room. My personal guess is that it is caused by the ageing of the building material, cause the house is about 40 years old and probably the stitches are coming to nothing.

Maybe you're having furnace problems. You should get it checked out. Then again, it could be the angry ghost of a construction worker who got stuck in the wall of your house when it was being built. Now he bangs his head against the wall every night because he's so incredibly bored in there.

If your home has old radiators or electric baseboard heating the 'banging' or clanging noise is normal...some may even click...either that or someone is 'having you on'.....
