Do you want to spend your life doing research?

If the answer is "No" -- then you should absolutely NOT get a doctorate. If the answer is YES -- then you should give it serious consideration.

Missing school is not a good reason to continue. If research is not your interest -- then get a teaching job with your M.Ed

get industry experience for 1-2 years and then go for PHD, it is not advisable to go for studeies in one run.

You will miss this time later on. Do some job in your field before going to PHD.

Look for a good program and go back. Maybe you can talk with some of your former professors as one of them will most like be your adviser.
