How do people cope with everything that's going on in the world today? What do you do? Ignore? Run? Hide? Face? Why? Does the future belong to the people who believe in a better world, or is that a false hope?

There's a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams".

Some things are achievable by being idealistic, however this can be a little naive. There tend to be setbacks.

Limitations are not the only limitation. It is also the anticipation of people who have reached a limit after crossing many, to create new limitations in order to create an illusion or reality of crossing another one.

There are two schools: those whose ideal is a powerful good intention that cannot be realized until it is realized, and those for whom the road to hell is paved in good intentions. It may be that the second view is practical.

....but what future are you referring to? People need to have a goal in the future that provides direction and meaning regardless of whether they own it or not.

Yes, emphatically yes. "I own it" means I'm taking responsibility, not blaming someone else. Then I HAVE to make it better, or I have only me to blame.

AS THOMAS HOBBES SAID MOST MEN ARE SELFISH AND BRUTAL AND INCAPABLE OF GOVERNING THEMSELVES. WE COULD MAKE A BETTER FUTURE FOR OUR PROGENY BUT MOST OF US ARE TOO BUSY LOOKING OUT FOR NUMBER ONE.
