In the light of hard evidence(and an increasingly dumbed-down America which has virtually NO concept of real math and science), a public opinion poll is about as valid as asking Kindergardeners if they want a second run on milke and cookies.

Thank you for all those people who went into the soft-majors at schools over the past 30 years...a six-figure salary as a real engineer due to the fact of generation X,Y, Z can't read, write, or figure out a percentage in sales tax make me even more valuable in the market(and shaking my head on the Dads/Moms of these new "progressive" generations who made incredibly poor parents).

So hearing and listening to the voice of the people is now stupid to do? Insulting a whole generation becuase a man on the wrong side of the political fence as compared to you, won an award? Seems a typical Republican/Conservative reaction to me. If you can't beat 'em, smear 'em til you can convince yourself they're stupid or evil.

There may have been others that would have been more suitable to win such a prestigious award, I'll give you that; however Gore was chosen (not by the American people by the way, but by a panel of intellligent rational thinkers) and he won it for making people aware of a huge issue.

I'm sorry, but I can't find a question anywhere here. I'm not even sure what your opinion is, to be frank. Perhaps you need to work on your writing skills.

But I'm wondering what your opinion is of the overwhelming majority of scientists in relevant fields who agree that not only is climate change happening, but there is a human component to the current trend. As I said, I can't really tell what side you're on.

I'm not sure what the question is...

It seems like you're questioning the point of asking your average scientifically illiterate American rube about the worthiness of Gore as a recipient of an award for his efforts on raising awareness on a topic rooted in science.

But, maybe, you're asking to comment on Gore receiving the award, I can't tell.

Maybe you're not asking a question, and are getting a rant off your chest.

In any case, hopefully my non-answer to your non-question will be voted the "best."

How does a man win a Nobel Peace prize simply by running around the country/world regurgitating information passed on to him by others? Al Gore is not a scientist nor does he bother with doing any of his so called research himself. He cares nothing about the environment, only cares about forcing the less prominent & wealthy Americans to cater to his methods of saving the environment while all along using up massive amounts of electricity in his multi-million dollar mansions, flying around the world in his private jets, and being driven around in his gas guzzling govt. SUV's.

Gore does not make the science--and has never claimed to. He reports what scientists have found. Educated people realize that--and support him.

The "issue" of global warming is not about its reality, or that it is caused by human actions. Those are proven scientific facts. The issue is what to do to stop it.

And the only people who don't see that are the scientific illiterates. I wonder if they realize they're nothing but a laughinstock?

Go to this link and look at the number of liberals on the committe compared to the number of conservatives and you might be able to predict the next winner without any opinion polls.

Not all people share your OPINION.....

Australian political and environmental leaders have been lavish in their praise for former US vice-president Al Gore and the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for winning the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.

The leaders said Mr Gore's global leadership in raising awareness of climate change had been a significant effort to help preserve worldwide peace and economic challenges.

The Nobel Peace Prize committee recognized their efforts to spread knowledge about man-made climate change and working out ways to fight it.

It is sad that such an award could be given to someone who admittedly has accomplished a certain awareness

- despite the means he employed to do so.

A question mark does not a question make. What I do detect is plain old jealousy.
