What should I do to get respect of people in real life, i.e. strangers? Nobody likes me or willing to respect me like a human beng - don't they have any self-concience or courtesy?

Hey don't worry. I have the same problem. I'm sick of people seeing me as a silly little girl. In my place of work not a single person has respect for me. I confided in my manager something very personal and private and she told the whole office, people are always taking advantage of me, as I'm such a pushover.

I'm totally sick of it, I've applied for 4 new jobs and am hoping to leave my office soon. People like me and are nice to me, but no one respects me at all.

Were you ignored as a child & now cling to people too much. There are people i work with who are deeply disrespected but they get others to talk for them & act childish & then talk about people instead of saying things to their face. Is it natural to bully & dominate such people & if they spoke to someone even less confident than themselves would they then become domineering themselves. Respect is about confidence in yourself & speaking up & not behaving childish & not having a sense of humour where you put yourself or others down.

They might think the same about you. Like, why is he looking at me that way, or why does he think I'm not worth talking to?

I think a lot of people blow these concerns a bit out of proportion, although I must admit I'm guilty myself.

But, I'm sorry I don't have the answer, the one thing I do know is the best thing u can do is talk to people and be friendly. : ]

It depends very much on your behaviour. If it is within the norms than I don't think there should be any problems. And also you should decide for youself what is respect for you, because may be what is respect for you, for others it is not considered worth being respected.
