For my womens studies class we have to write a letter to poltican or other person in power adressing our concern for a womens right issue. I would like to write a letter to someone adressing the need to change the TANF (welfare) system in Illinois. Should I address the letter to the govenor or possibliy the director of the DFS office?

If you can only write to one I would suggest the Governor. I don't believe the director of the DFS office has any power to change anything. How about writing to the Governor with a CC on the bottom to the DFS director? You make me curious as to what you would like changed. You know you can write to your Senator, too. If you are very interested in this subject (other than getting a good grade) you could even start a petition to enclose with your letter and that would get more attention. And possibly a better grade. LOL Good luck! I think your teacher is doing a good thing to bring attention to womens rights.

Write a letter to your State Representative and your Governor just make two copies and CC on each of them. CC means that the will know that you have sent a courtesy copy to the other party. Good Luck and what a wonderful subject you have chosen to write on! I am very impressed with your wit!

Writing a letter is pointless. You need to file an actual police report. Call the police dept. and tell them to send an officer to where you live and have the officer fill one out.

In my opinion, you should do both, at least twice( if you aren't planning on sending the letter, only once, and to the governor).
