That is a mis-quote, he didn't say that. Gore has led the way in creating awareness of a global human crisis named "global warming" which is one of many problems created by world population, depletion of natural resources, pollution of all kinds, ozone depletion, etc..., etc... Read the books that science is presenting, this is not just Al Gore, he is just a face or front man, he is listening to the science and trying to report it to the world. Problem is most people don't want to listen because it would be hard to change, so they try to ignore the evidence or discount the science. Until something truly globally tragic happens, things will probably stay the same.

If you want my honest opinion it was because he won a peace prize in the first place. It makes no sense why global warming would even be nominated for a peace prize, not to mention the fact that his speeches caused conflict and did not resolve any. But from his point of view I would say it is because he might be trying to sound humble and say that there are bigger issues or something like that.

He didn't say that. The Nobel committee awarded him the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on making people aware of a global crisis called global warming and pollution.

In a statement, Gore said he was "deeply honored" to receive the award and that he and his wife, Tipper, would donate all of the proceeds to the Alliance for Climate Protection, a nonprofit group in the United States dedicated to changing public opinion about the urgency of climate change.

"We face a true planetary emergency," Gore said. "The climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity. It is also our greatest opportunity to lift global consciousness to a higher level."

I don't know. If he cares so much about Kyoto and all, he should have done something about for the 8 years he was VP of the USA.
