Graph advantage is that it's easy to use and you can quickly do conversion without performing any caculations. Disadvantage is you have to carry graphh around with you or hunt for it if you forgot where you stored it.

Algebraically advantage is you can do it in your head fairly easily. Disadvantage is if you can't do it in your head you need calculator or pencil and paper to perform calculation each time.

There is a formula that allows you to convert tempertures in Fahrenheit to Celsius... it's
C = 5(F - 32) / 9.

The advantage it has algebraically is that is will give you an exact answer. If it's 45°F outside, then plug the 45 in for F and solve for C.
C = 5(45 - 32) / 9 = 5(13) / 9 = 65 / 9 = 7.222°C.
The disadvantage this particular formula has is that you'd have to do a lot more work to change from Celsius to Fahrenheit.

The values for temperatures Celsius and Fahrenheit can also be plotted onto a graph. It forms a line:
C = (5/9)F + (32/9).
One of two advantages a graph has is that once it's done, it's very simple to use... just look up from the temperature F, find the point on the line, then look across to the temperature C. The other advantage is that it's just as easy to convert the other way around.
The big disadvantage in using a graph is that your values will be only as close as you can distinguish on the paper. In the above example of 65°F = 7.222°C, how do you know the number is 7 2/9 instead of 7 1/4? Reading a graph is a good estimation and a good visual representation of the numbers, but is less than accurate (at best) for exactness.

Using a graph is a quicker way to arrive at a "ballpark" guess, but it won't be as precise as using a formula.

A formula will get you a more accurate and more precise answer, but it's slower than looking at a graph.
