They are an AMAZING group that gives a totally new meaning to "percussion" -- and many other things as well. When I first saw them, many years ago, they were doing the "chewing Captain Crunch cereal in syncopated rhythms" bit. I LOVED it. I've always loved their work.

At the core of Blue Man Group are Matt Goldman, Phil Stanton and Chris Wink. Onstage, these three wear blue skins and adopt an extraterrestrial attitude. Their attention is thoroughly focused on their music -- and the strangely contorted instruments of their own design. Constructed mainly of weirdly-joined sections of PVC pipe, these devices possess no earthly counterparts.

The blueman group are a popular band which has unique defining charachteristics. 1) they are completely blue, (literally, they paint themselves or something) 2) they play mostly homemade percussion instruments. 3) they dont talk very much, ususally look kind of like mimes. 4) rumor has it that some of them are DCI alumni tenor players. I don't know. But they've been at the Briar Street Theater here in Chicago for years.

All I know is that my husband got tickets for us to see them for my birthday, after I told him I had already seen them and didn't really care for it, and we got in the biggest fight of our lives.
