I'm 5'3, 168lbs at the moment.. I had a baby 5 months ago and gained 30lbs... Luckily I lost my baby weight, but still want to lose 40lbs, I originally wanted to lose before I got pregnant... Im a single parent, so I don't have alot of time between work, and taking care of my son.. Any suggestions on any diets / quick workouts I can do to lose weight?

Forget a "diet". I've lost over 50 lbs just by changing my eating habits in the past year. Cut out the crap..candy, cookies, sweets, fatty stuff...and eat healthy!

Fruits, vegetables, low fat food, lean meats...no gravies, butter, high calorie foods, sauces, high fat dressings, etc.

If you do this, the weight will drop with out much trouble. And once you lose it, stay with healthy eating and you won't gain it back.

Plus, get exercise. Take your baby out for a stroll in his carriage.

After I had my second baby the weight didn't come off nearly as easy as the first time. I wanted to lose 20lbs and it seemed like no matter what I did, I didn't lose any weight. Then I tried Weight Watchers. This is honestly the easiest way for me to lose weight. I am still able to eat the things I like, count the points and lose weight. I started WW 2 years ago and have been able to keep the weight off.
There is a lot of helpful information online. I also go to fast food restaurants still too. I just look online to see how many points different foods are and I plan ahead. I would also walk in the evenings as well with my kids in the stroller.
One thing I did to help keep myself motivated, I would buy a pair of jeans that was a size too small. I would periodically try them on to see how I was coming along. Then if something sounded good but I had used all of my points, I just remembered the jeans that I wanted to wear. I am now wearing a size 3 (I'm 5'3 also) and haven't worn that for 15 years.
Buy the Smart Ones frozen meals too. Those are quick to cook for yourself and easy to count points. I was pleasantly surprised at how some of them tasted. The desserts especially were great, if you save enough points. I also bought a lot of 100 calorie snacks.
Good luck. Remember, it will take a little while, but stick with it and you will feel much better. It will be well worth the work and determination.

Diets simply do not work - they are often restrictive, hard to follow and most folks end up gaining the weight back!
A whole new approach to eating and exercising that can be followed for life is the key - and this does not mean you give up all your faves, just incorporate them into a healthy diet!
You can as other posters have said, incorporate daily walks into your life with the stroller - I know time is tight, but exercise requires some input and this way you can incorporate your baby, also exercise DVDs - find one that suits you and is fun (you can pick them up for pennies on ebay); walk rather than drive when you can, make simple moves like picking a parking spot at the other end of the lot so you have to walk more, take your little one swimming - those types of things!
Then with the food - we simply do not keep junk in the house - never have, never will - if we want a treat we go out and get it - but as this takes work, it really forces you to think if you really need it or not! Fill up on lots of veggies, fruit, and make little snack plates of raw veggies so they are right there at eye level in the fridge! Do not shop on an empty stomach and know that all the junk is stored in the easiest place to shop within the store as they know it is often an impulse buy...make a list and stick to it - plan out meals so you know what you need!
You will get there - you already lost that baby weight in 5 months and a healthy mommy is the best gift you can give your baby!

First, you can do it. And you don't need expensive drugs or supplements. In fact, eating healthy and getting exercise is often *cheaper* than the alternative.

You and I sound like we're about the same heights, and I was around your weight, maybe a little heavier, when I decided to make some changes back in March. Now I'm at 148 and still losing.

Here's what I did, in order:

1. Eliminate trans fats. They're terrible for you, and avoiding them means avoiding some of the fattiest, most fattening foods - fast food french fries, doughnuts. It made a big difference.

2. Substiute whole grains for white pasta, bread, etc. It takes longer to digest, so you feel fuller longer and the fiber is good for you, too.

3. Add in more vegetables and fruits, beginning with things you actually *like* - for me, it was carrots, broccoli and green beans, but I'm slowly trying more and more.

4. Cut down on red meat. At first, I cut down to one cheeseburger each week - I often ate three, four or more. Now I almost always choose chicken or shrimp, and don't miss burgers much at all.

5. Figure out a few easy things to eat at home. I don't cook - or I didn't at all when I started. So for me, it was all about toasting whole wheat pitas & learning how to steam veggies in the microwave. I also often make a box of pasta at a time then eat it all week, with a few veggies sauteed in olive oil.

6. Trade out soda for club soda mixed with a little bit of juice. I was actually drinking diet soda, but I felt like it was triggering my sweet tooth instead of satisfying it.

Most of all, get some exercise. My main form is walking - I pop my son in his stroller and we walk all over town. If that's not a good option for you, try to find something that fits into your routine and gets you moving. It doesn't have to be a kickboxing class, just something that gets your blood pumping.

That's where I'm at right now. I still have more to lose, and since we're talking about baby number two, who knows how it will go? But I know that this is a lifelong diet that will keep me slim and healthy. Best of all? I'm starting my son out right.

Good luck - you'll get there!

Eat soup, fat free jello with fruit. Count calories and carbs. No more than 75 carbs per meal. And eat the most at noon meal, supper is lighter than breakfast, no food after 730pm. Limit bread to 2 slices whole sprouted wheat (healthy way bread) is 15 carbs. turkey, fish, or chicken, baked or steamed. Eat the wall of grocery produce, meat, no middle isles. except steel cut oats, beans. cottage cheese, milk lowfat everything. Excerise! 1/2 hr daily
