Right. A bestselling author sues for copyright infringement and you come down on her. What would you say if I sued someone for the same thing? It wouldn't make the news, but I have the same rights to my story as J. K. Rowling does to hers. She is protecting ME from the same kind of abuse.

I would be flattered if someone used my books that way, but I'd also want some money. If they had asked first, the price would have been a hell of a lot lower, I'm sure.

She had too. Because of the copyright laws. If she hadnt done anything about it than she would have lost her copyright ownership over Harry Potter. That's why she didnt sue for that much it was just procedure basically. I'm sure she's happy she lost because i dont think she minded that much but she would have lost her rights without doing it

Her intellectual property was violated. One cannot take the work of someone else and reconstruct it as their own.

In the USA we have intellectual property laws that protect writers and other artists - from having their work stolen by others.
