That's ancient history. Most people trying to read his work today would be hopelessly confused. Many of the words he used (especially 'magnetism') weren't with today's meanings. You should read a modern account of his work, which would include explanations using today's vocabulary and concepts, and which would clarify which of his ideas turned out to be wrong. I doubt any of his work related to magnetoresistance. Today, 'channeling' generally refers either to an occult/demonic activity, or to focusing your time and effort toward accomplishing a specific task without distraction.
