I wouldn't do that with or, around youngsters, they can and will eventually push against the glass. You will be responsible for any injuries morally or, criminally and have to face the liabilities.
It could be expensive knowing you knew about the safety glass laws.

In my town glass shops are required to reglaze doors w/ safety glass or Lexan.

All doors are supposed to have tempered glass, I don't know what "single-strength" is but what you want is tempered.
