Berkey & Gay is one of the most famous names in American furniture history. It was one of the primary exhibitors at the Centennial Exposition of 1876 in Philadelphia where it won a number of prizes. It was founded in 1866, closed in 1931 and reopened in 1934, only to close permanently in 1948. Their quality went down during and after the Depression.
