It's not unfair. It's just what it is. An award doled out each year to the most Communism- or totalitarianism-loving high-profile person of the year. The committee masks their intent by using catch phrases like "promoting democracy" or "promoting human rights" when in-fact those who win only promote the human rights of those in power to suppress democracy. The Nobel Committee should be a laughing stock-they gave it to Yasser Arafat--the supreme terrorist, and to Jimmy Carter, a man who has never met a dictator he did not love, nor a leader who promotes freedoms and capitalism he did not hate.

And now they gave it to Al Gore, the de-facto head of the world's major force to suppress capitalism and personal freedoms in the drive toward more Socialism and Communism under the banner of Global Warming. "Global Warming" has become the new mantra for world Communism, just as "Four legs good, two legs bad" in Animal Farm. (Leftists always use catchy slogans: "Bush lied, people died.")

The United Nations has won three along with Jimmy Carter, Al Gore, Amnesty International, Yasser Arafat, Mikhail Gorbachev - well, you get the idea - "peace in our time" is an excellent agenda - in the real world, however, there are people who pride themselves in slaughtering innocent victims to try and further a fanatical ideology of hatred and domination. These people must be confronted for the good of all civilized nations - diplomacy with these groups is both unrealistic and idealistic.
The thought that radical Islamic militants can keep their blood lust confined within their own borders and co-exist with any non-Muslim country is fantasy at its best - but, still, the thought of a world at peace drives people to pacifism - which is a euphemism for appeasement and surrender.

I think the Nobel Prize is very fair.

Just look at some of the past winners:

Dr. Martin Luther King
Ghandi
Jimmy Carter
Nelson Mandela

All these people are great men.

Congratulations to Al Gore for joining this list.

I think it's totally political, and has been a joke ever since they gave it to those two anti-semites Carter and Arafat. I realize that you libs would rather go back to the way it was when the terrorists were just killing our people left and right and getting away with it while our beloved commander in chief was humping the office staff, but those days are over.

Oh SO VERY UNFAIR.......
They kept overlooking the sainted Ronald Reagan no matter how much money they were offered for it. I know, why not start a splinter group the Ronald Reagan Peace Prize.....give it Bushie as the inaugeral recipient.........he's about as stupid as Reagan was senile so it would be good fit.

Alfred Nobel the founder of the Nobel Peace Prize invented high explosive dynamite. I don't think he expected the prize to be limited to extream liberals no matter what they submit. It's really become a rediculous political award and most of the world is starting to see this for the joke it really is. Jimmy Carter, Al Gore and a range of other idiots are on the list.

I'm not a Republican, but let's not forget that we got hit first.
**Edit**
I didn't say we got hit by Iraq. Nor did you specify Iraq only in mention of this war. There are troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have one nephew in each country fighting. Both Marines.

Le Anne: did you ever lived with Muslims? it seems like you are acting as prosecutor, judge and jury and a law enforcement officer, moment, moment you have not heard their side of story have you? hardly any body in US has.
Remember you are Innocent until Proven guilty in Court of law.

If you could get a foundation to set it up, go for it.

Good luck getting it to be respected around the world, you'll need it.

Al Gore winning the peace prize shows how political and insignificant it is. It's just a step above Arafat winning it in the past.
