I drive the speed limits (city driving). Even when I was younger I drove the speed limits.

Since I am in my 70's now and do not want my license taken away from me because of speeding or accident, I do my shopping at WalMart early Sunday mornings or at 11:00 am when I know that most drivers are in church or sleeping late and the streets are not crowded. Another plus is no standing in lines.

By the way, if you have a WalMart try one of their deli's roasted chickens. Delicious!
They are so good that we have to stand in line for them here.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.

I drive slow so that I can keep my eye(s) on other people. When I see a cell phone in a drivers hand & being held up to their ear, then I KNOW why slower driving is not only saving my own vehicle from a collision, but it is saving the hassle of having to guess if the other driver has a valid drivers license & insurance! When cell phones are banned from use in moving vehicles (for drivers), then, & only then, will I feel it is safe to take my eyes off of other drivers & take a chance at going 45 in a 25mph zone! I obey the posted speed limits because I am using my eyes to find them...not text messaging & taking my eyes off the road. Freeways are for speed...not the City streets! P.S. If someone is going too slow, then perhaps you should safely pass them, or stop for a cup of coffee until they are out of your range! Other than that, deal with it. Everything happens for a reason & going slower means that you now have an opportunity to see something that you may have never noticed before!

I usually drive the speed limit,or a very little bit over it. I hate when other drivers ride my butt, or pass me giving me dirty looks because i am not doing 95mph. I feel my life is in danger when I drive too fast. If anything ever happened I would not be able to stop. Also I drive for the road conditions...if there is a blizzard I will not do 45 in it. The only other time I drive a little slower is in the dark when I don't know the road very well....people get annoyed at that also. I don't think it is about time for those drivers, I think it is about control, and speed....

Your nic suits you :-)

I notice drivers of all ages who drive too slow...and too many drivers of young age who drive entirely too fast and erratically and in a super unsafe manner, having never really learned how to safely drive...e.g., can't judge distance; don't even know that for every 10 miles per hr of speed you need to allow one car length of distance for braking ....

I am a former drag race queen in what was called the Petticoat Class in my local drag strip...I also was a Grand Prix race afficionado.

I was first licensed when I was 16 and have had ONE accident in all those years which was not my fault. I have had only two moving violations in all those years and taught all 3 of my children how to drive...who also have clean driving records.

Perhaps you DO need to stop generalizing...and understand that what YOU call a majority is not necessarily so.

Just this a.m. t here was a report on the news that elder drivers are NOT the cause of most accidents....YOUNGER, unskilled drivers are!

Tell you what, I am a little old granny that loves driving! When I can, on an open road, I love opening up that engine! However, when I am around town and in traffic, I drive close to the speed limit as I do not wish to harm others or, be the cause of a wreck!

If you want to ride with a senior who will open your little mind a bit, come on down and we'll jump into my Acura Legend and I think you would not post this question again!

I am a sr. I drive between 65 and 70 when I am on the freeway. It makes no difference, I still get passed like I am in reverse and often even tho I am in the slow lane and seldom pass get a few obscene jestures. My call is slow your @arses down or you won't live to be my age. Beating me to the stop light is a real accomplishment in itself. If I take a country road where the speed limit is 45 I still can't drive 50 and not have someone faunching to get around me. Just continue to stew and gripe it takes it toll in the long run. As for the young man with the post about speeding and not getting caught, he will mess up and then someone will be cleaning up. By the way, I used to race--and win.

I'll turn "61" years young tomorrow, the 13th & I am NOT a slow driver. I go the speed limit & living down here with so much traffic at any time of day or night, I wouldn't dare speed. It'd be kind of embarrassing if I was way over the speed limit, & my son was to pull me over on his way back from investigating a homicide or serving a warrant to someone, etc. Not good!!!

Reckless driving was something most older people got out of their systems when they were young and foolish. I admit that I'm lucky to have survived those years. Driving the speed limit, or slightly above it, is my habit now. I don't think of driving as a race against the clock or a contest with other drivers.

Now I want to ask you a question. What's your big hurry? One more! Why don't you use turn signals?

Well, I have to drive slow coz
I have cataracts and I'm taking 5 meds that say "don't drive while using this Rx" but I have to shop, don't I? And besides, my dog wants me to stop somewhere so he can go pee, but I just let him suffer.
Oh, if I drive slow, I can
also see what people are
wearing as they walk down
the street. I don't drive in
the fast lane, I only drive
over by the curb.

first, let me just say that I've always had a need for speed and could out drive you any day of the week, even with my disability. However, I have found it, at times, to be relaxing to just cruise slow enough to see the world go by. That doesn't mean slow, just going speed limit.
