This is so true indeed.
Anyone who feeds himself with remorse would somehow find it hard to move on. He'd be overcome with fear that the 'next stop' may charge him the same 'damage fee'...and that he's headed for the same irrational route.
If one takes haven in feeling guilty all of his life, he would likewise treat other's mistakes the same way he's done with his own. The sympathy of forgiveness would ever be a stranger to him, and he would be a slave of his guilt feeling forever;.. Never to know how to trust again... Never to realize that nobody is perfect. He'd be constantly licking his own wounds, and murder his chance of self-renewal over and over again...for the freedom from guilt has flown from his cage forever.

I think that you do have to forgive yourself in order to grow. But that forgiveness may be more that just an act of will on my part- it may involve making amends to others that I have harmed and generally making things right as much as possible before I deserve forgiveness.

are all things forgivable? i personally think so, but not all people do. if i were not to forgive myself past errors, i think i would continuously be obssessed with them, and that they would eventually make me decay from the inside. and by forgive i do not mean forget. forgiveness is being able to live with past errors ans admit.. "i have done this or that, i'm not proud of it, but i can live with it.., maybe i would have done thingd differentl, but now, it's done and i get along with it." .. forgiveness is sometimes a big change in life, and changes, take time.

Torturing yourself for all you have done wrong will never help. Sometimes you have to openly admit to yourself you did something wrong and try to never do it again. Life is about learning and growing. You can't do either without stubling and sometimes falling flat on your face. You are only human. Remember " To err is human, to forgive , divine"

everyone is forced to keep aging, not necessarily forced to take steps forward. but when youve done yourself and those around you wrong and you keep walking forward, youre either carrying regret or spite. the way i see it, youve got to backspace or curve backwards to fix your wrongs. life is easier to move through with a clear conscience
