I'd have serious reservations about being with someone who committed a crime serious enough to send him to jail...there's a HIGH chance it wouldn't be an issue (we wouldn't be together anyway).
Of course, not knowing why he's in there I'd say if the relationship had been strong before we went in, 6 months isn't an unreasonable amount of time to wait. Military partners/spouses often wait much longer for their loved ones to return from deployments (and often no visitation during that time).

I completely agree with Erin, it depends on why he was locked up. My bf spent three years in jail and I met him a year after he got out, but if I had known him then, I would have stood by him and waited for him to get released. Good people make stupid mistakes and pay the price.

I say if you really love him, stay with him. People make mistakes and bad choices, that does not make them bad people. There are plenty of support groups for those who are standing by their men in prison/jail. Look for one on the yahoo groups.

ok, and what if its another 6 months after that, then after that?
i wouldnt stay with someone thats in jail, they usually end up going right back anyways even if they get out
