Have to do an informative speech with Power point presentation. The powerpoint part will be easy once I get a topic. Considering what I'm interested in my audience may not find interesting. She wants it to be a topic that my classmates can "get something out of." I was thinking about "how Japan has influenced the US(youth, gaming, movies, baseball, fashion, business, etc) but I'll be just touching on it because I can't fit all of that into the limited time frame but I think it would be boring to one who isn't interested or has no thought of business or Japan? I also was considering "Tour of Tokyo" or "Bilingual Incentives" or why study abroad. or why become an engineer. Interesting to me, but they may be a bore to the majority. Then I was considering "How to change a flat" this is something that everyone needs to know and I can make it very detailed, interesting even. Don't know. It was hard picking a topic for my first speech.

What subject you pick isn't nearly as important as how you present it. Sure you want your audience to be interested, but there are very few topics you could choose that all would find interesting, so what you have to do is MAKE it interesting. Usually, the more you know and care about a subject, the better your ability to present an interesting and knowledgible speech. A word of caution though, do not overwhelm them with details and minutia. Try to imagine you know next to nothing on the subject, and use that as your base for where to start and what to present. Be mindful of the time expectations, and do not go over the maximum. Don't bog down the multimedia with stats and figures, rather focus on eye-popping images, including items that are familair as well as things that are completely new. This will give your audience a hint of what they already know, as well as giving them a taste of how much more there is to the subject. Most of all, remember to make it fun.
Good luck

Use issues important in your community. For example, how do you feel about the memorial planned for Ground Zero? There is much information out there, and more than one way to see it. What are your classmates talking about? If Ms. Spears is a hot topic, you might want to talk about parenting issues - how much latitude should the courts have in severing parental control over a child's life? OJ? Should a criminal be allowed to profit from his crimes? What if his profits go to his own children or the children of his victims? If you want to take it on, politics is always a hot topic. Where do you stand on health care? Tax reform? Public finance of elections? Scan the talk show topics for current issues. Scan news magazines for headlines that capture your attention. I don't know your age group or area, so more specifics are difficult. If you are under 18, mental health care is a great subject. If you are under 21, planning for the future. 21 - 31 - family vs. career, 31 + personal happiness vs. financial security....and so on. Let us know what you decide, please.

Maybe somethnig more common.
Think outside the box, let your creative mind flow (if you one).
My friend had to do an informative speech a while back and she was in the Funeral businness. Soooo she described how to prepare a body for burial. Nothing to graphic was really show but very descriptive.
If you could provide more info on the hobbies you have or maybe what the people around you do for a living, friends, relatives, neighbor.

Think of any topic
any means anything under the sun. it could be something you personally like.a suggestion from others.a suggestion from the internet. just anything.. here are more important things you should consider.
1. identify your boundaries
2. use the 7-words-7-lines rule in making your power point
3. present data. these could be numbers, charts, tables... etc.. just not too much.. presenting data will not make your presentation boring.. it will not make you a "loser".. rather, it will make your report more reliable.. just don't limit yourself with these suggestions in presenting data.. you can show pictures, images.. whatsoever.. just provide something that would back you up.. it would impress your mentor, of course..
4. be confident in reporting.. you know.. be energetic and all.. no matter what topic you are going to discuss, just prepare yourself. wear nice clothes..fix your hair. etc etc..
hint: just think that no one is familiar about the topic you are going to report... it will add a little confidence in you.. hehe
here are my suggestions:
1. present anything that will make the Filipinos proud..i mean if they are your audience... the first Filipino who invented this and that... etc..etc..
2. or how about Woman circumcision? hmmm pretty interesting..
3. Weird practices in foreign countries.. like marriage practices..
4. Or compare social norms...like norms in the Philippines and norms in other countries..
Good luck..

I did one on recycling and the class rated it the best of the presentations. I had fun facts and creative ideas for reusing and even brought in some examples. Gave them addresses of local resources. Showed them pictures of how big the local land fills are and even pictures of what I found in an average trash bag ready to be picked up (a little yucky but my neighbor let me grab one of theirs and spread it out for pictures as long as I rebagged it)

I think you could do great on the Japanese influence, just narrow your relations to just movies, or just video games in order to stay in the time frame
