The opening line(s) are:
"Promise me you won't open it," my brother said.
"Why?"
"Just promise me."

I would like to know if you have any ideas to make the story as interesting as possible and unpredictable e.g. there's something in a box and the girl/boy opens it everyone gets upset etc.

Your opening lines are great! They snag the reader instantly, wanting to learn what the gift could be.

I once wrote a short tale titled, "The Gift"; a story of a gifted young man having the ability to heal the injured and hurt. He passed his gift on to his girl friend. That's all I will tell you, but you can come up with a myriad of story names.

The contents of the box must be unique unto itself. Start thinking of what's inside and what type of impact it will have on the audience and the characters in the story.
