I do think that you are starting labor. This can mean you are going to go into full active labor tonight or this weekend. I would say you will have your babies by Wednesday.
It is very dangerous to go over 40 weeks.
I think that you should call your OB and speak to a nurse that you have recently seen and let her know your symptoms and make sure that she tells your doctor. He may want to see you just to be sure today.

when the placenta begins to age, either on time or prematurely it stops giving the right nutitrion to the baby. Being induced at 39 weeks is probably the latest they can wait w/ that problem. NST daily are just to make sure he isn't becoming inactive due to lack of nutirion which would be it's time now. My friend had the same problem and she delivered 3 weeks early because he went 2.5 days w/o moving. They had to start him in a feeding tube when he was born b/c he was too weak to eat on his own. he's fine now at age 2, so it'll probably be fine. Doc warned her not to skip ANY vitamins and get enough calories because it was even more important w/ that. Also, sounds like labor is probably about a week away. It's exactly how mine started & I suddenly had more energy than ever too! and it was 8 days later I popped :) GOOD LUCK!

I think inducing is pretty common now. My doctor wanted to induce me 1 1/2 weeks before my due date. There really wasn't any reason for it either. I was getting very large and uncomfortable. Like everyone does. I ended up having him a few days before they wanted to induce. I think I would have waited longer for them to induce. They seem to jump the gun on that and probably want to do it so that it's at a scheduled time. I think the baby should come when it's ready unless you are past your due date or having medical problems. It sounds like you will be in labor soon. Hopefully you wont have to make the decision and you will just have him very soon!!!! Good Luck!!!

I think your mom is right. You are probably are going to be induced because your placenta probably isn't providing what it is supposed to for the baby and the dr thinks you baby will do better if it is being nourished outside of the uterus rather than in. Although it sounds like you may go into labor on your own this weekend!

Once you lose that plug you begin dilating so it could really be any day now. Due dates are only approximate, the baby can come two weeks prior to or after the due date. Sounds like you are going to go here pretty soon. Take things easy, and rest rest rest. It's best for both you and baby.

hello, well, i know what your going thru i went thru it when i was pregnate with my daughter the same thing happened to me except my doctor was on vacation and he had scheduled a date a week before i had my daughter to induce me and i was uncomfortable like you are now three days after he told me the day i was scheduled to be induced. i didnt know what was going on. i just knew i didnt feel comfortable i was hurting and it wasnt the normal pregnate feeling so i had my sister in law take me to the hospital to get checked out and the next thing i knew is that the nurse said that i was dilated to a three and wasnt going hoome that it was time for the baby. so if i was you i would be going to the doctor or the hospital because that is excatly what happened to me the same feeling and everything and i was in labor and didnt relize it. so, good luck and i hope i helped you. and congrads. kristy

Doctors want to wait until the last possible minute to induce labor because natural labor is best for mom and baby. That being said, it sometimes becomes necessay as in your case. Thats why they are monitoring you so close. It sounds to me that you are going into labor already, so I wouldn't worry about being induced. Good luck mom!!!!!!

perhaps it could be the onset of labor... or you've psyched yourself out... however I don't think that you would lose your mucuas plug... I would take it easy and see what happens... if the pain increaces call the dr. you will know if you are having contractions... they are undeniable and if your water breaks... no questions there. My water broke a month early and I was standing at a vegetable stand on the side of the road... so I never had any questions. Good luck!

walk walk walk.
labor sound immenent.
that aging placenta stuff is a new phenomena... i was born 4 weeks late and i was fine. my brother, too. i don't see how it could even be aging when you're not to term yet!! (is your doctor going on vacation soon, i wonder??)
i would avoid induction if i were you. unless they can give you concrete evidence of the placenta aging prematurely. i'venever heard such a thing.

Sounds like you could be starting labor soon. If you are having twins (or more) they tend to be born earlier than 40 wks, and from people I've known, their docs were extra careful, too.
