With my little girl I weighed 108lbs before getting pregnant. When I delivered, I weighed 189lbs (BIG CHANGE FOR ME)
BUTTTT--- I also quit smoking which made me eat all the time, I wasn't working and all I really did was sit at home. With this pregnancy (I just entered my 3rd trimester), I have gained 38lbs so far. I watch what I eat this time and I also work full time. I guess it really just depends how you spend the 9 months you are pregnant.

Lol I always say that when I am pregnant I look like Michelin man and my shoes don't fit either!

Before my daughter I was a size 8 and about 9st I ballooned up to 15st! But I did develop pre eclampsia took about a year and a half to get back to a size 12. This time I am 21 weeks pregnant and put on a stone and a bit so far, but hey as long as the baby is healthy who cares we can lose it again :)

Hi
Every one is different. 1st 2nd and 3rd pregnancy i put around 2 stone on with all 3 pregnancies but this time around so far i have only put 11lbs on. If you eat healthy and exercises well and drink plenty of water you will have a healthy baby. Does it really matter how much weight you really put on? As long as the little one has a healthy mother then there is no reason why baby shouldn't be health too.
I am speaking from my own experience as i was over weight when i first got pregnant. And now people tell me that i look great with a very lovely bump in front. And I'm due on 24th of this month.
Good Luck and Best Wishes with the rest of your pregnancy.
Mum of 3 and 4th due in a few weeks xx
Take Care.

Personally, I put on 63 pounds with my first and 33 with my second. I would have loved to have stayed closer to the 25 pound mark - but that didn't happen! With my first I really did overeat, but I was underweight to begin with. With my second I ate reasonably and still gained too much. Now I'm pregnant with number three and I'm 2.5 months along. I've lost 2 pounds so far (something I never did with the first two!). I eat a lot, but I usually eat pretty healthy stuff. I'm hoping this time I only gain 25 pounds because I'm already almost overweight (never lost those extra pounds from the first one).

And don't worry about the shoe thing! That's just from swelling and water-retention. If your doctor's not concerned, I wouldn't worry about. Best of luck!

It varies so much - my sister has been sick with morning sickness her entire first trimester in both pregnancies, so actually lost weight at first, then went on to gain about 35 lbs the first time, we'll see for the second...she's 17 weeks now, and finally able to eat again without feeling like she just got off a carnival ride.

I know people who have gained barely the minimum threshold of weight according to the guidelines...

I put on 50 lbs first time, 38 second time, and 23 so far this time, and I'm at 32 weeks.

My OB calls those guidelines 'very loose guidelines'. She focuses on a mainly healthy diet, and says the weight gain is secondary, as long as you are otherwise in good health.

It's different for everyone. So long as you generally eat a healthy diet, you're doing just fine.

According to the "experts" 25-30 is all that is needed. However, I put on 70 with my first and 30 with my second. I did not think I was indulging myself either. I ate pretty healthy and I worked until three weeks before I delivered. I can tell you a lot of it is water weight. You will probably lose 15 pounds within the first week or so after delivering.

with my first two i put on about 2 stone each time. I lost it in 2 weeks with the first but it took me two years to lose it with the second. Im nearly 37 weeks now and i have only gained 5 lbs. I was worried with this but the midwife says its fine as the baby is healthy and gaining weight. (I am eating normally, probably too much junk as well)

I was told by my midwife that the average woman gains 10-12kgs but by that time i had already gained 18 kgs...in total i gained 22kgs but i never ate junk food, always had a healthy diet and 19 of those kilos 'fell' off me within days...after 4 weeks i was back to my pre-preg weight...i guess as long as you have a good diet and don't eat too many chocs, cakes, pizzas etc it doesn't matter how much you gain cause if it comes from 'good food' (and obviously the baby +++) it will come off again so much easier..

Good luck and don't worry too much ..Remember, a happy mum means a happy baby :)

Everyone is different. I weighed 8 stone before I conceived and rose to 10 stone right before I gave birth. 8 months after the birth I am back down to 8 and a half stones. My feet and hans were quite swollen in the last month and for a couple of weeks after the birth.
