I think that the game is evolving. The reason: more competitive teams and leagues. The more competition, the more reason to evolve as a player. As far as the human evolution in soccer. Well I agree with BNP, a player like Pele would have to pass down his attributes to his offspring, and so on. And very few Great Players have ever had offspring with the same success. So it would take some years for us to really tell how much we have evolved.

Apparently futbol is not a necessary trait for humans to evolve on.

Only if successful futbol players and significantly more likely to reproduce than us average folks. For millions of years.
Edit: that's with reference to futbol specific traits. General improvements in coordination and other physical attributes could happen for other reasons.

Humans have ceased to evolve at this time due to lack of environmental pressure affecting reproduction. Virtually anyone can breed.

They have and are, that's why records are being broken all the time. It just doesn't show much because all the teams are evolving at the same pace.

yes because hot chicks and most other chicks will only bang good soccer players.
so their kids will carry on good soccer genes.
they have already evolved. look at brazil national team.

Yes humans are, but the Italian national team isn't.......haven't you noticed that they've devolved..........that's why people find them "fascinating"........they're cavemen playing football, it's amazing they have the intellect to do so.........that also explains why the Italian national team is so UGLY.
