The icemaker motor probably burned out. I had the same problem with a fairly new GE refrigerator. The ice got stuck in the trays and, when the motor tried to turn and remove the ice, it got stuck. Then more water was injected into the ice tray, which covered the whole icemaker mechanism with a layer of ice. I didn't notice this for a while, until one day there was no more ice in the hopper. In the mean time, the motor that turns the stuck blades had burned out.

Your best bet would be to either call out an applicance repair tech to install a new motor or go buy a new ice maker. But, you might still need to call out a repair technician to install it.
