i live in southern california where termites are a way of life, you need to cut off all vents of exposure to your home,if they are in your crawl space, then they can eat your hard wood floors, eat your wood furniture and if you have any books or paper, that too.tembor works well in the attic, but will not kill all of them, removal and replacement of wood is the best.in kitchen and bathroom underlining floor, rub in motor oil on the 2 by 8's before putting down the capsheet(plywood) as this is the same idea that railroads had 200 years ago by soaking rail road ties in creasaute

Well, I grew up in the country and I knew a little remedy that people would sometimes use. It is a little extreme and I think it is against the law today, though. They would spray creosote under their houses. I mean a thick layer of the stuff. They would soak the ground under their houses. Of course, they had pier and beam foundations so there was this crawlspace under there. It would keep the termites away and kill any that are infesting already. It also stunk bad. Creosote is what they soak railroad ties in that makes them last a long time. It also gives them that particular smell. Also, creosote is a carcinogen. Probably why it is illegal to do that anymore.

They are using a bait. The termites think its food, take it to the nest where it poisons the other termites.
