My question is: If Al Gore is pushing for the U.S. to stop contributing to Global Warming and ALL the other countries are not participating, in the fight to end Global Warming", Does That Mean, That Only The U.S. will have Clean Air?
DAH ! It seems like no one really cares?

Let's get this into perspective. The US is one of the biggest contributors (if not the biggest) to Global Warming and yet has steadfastly refused to work towards decreasing it. Remember the Kyoto accord that the US will never sign?

Everybody has to get on board to stop pollution. It is the multi-nationals - who can set up shop anywhere who are the worst offenders. The pollution doesn't stay in the country where it is produced - it affects the whole planet. The guiltiest are the ones who are now jumping on board the Al Gore bandwagon, and pretending to be the ones who want to change it - so they are focusing on getting us to use cloth shopping bags that cost a dollar each - so we all feel like we are causing the problem every time we use a plastic shopping bag.

Meanwhile the emissions continue without any really substantial changes - as far as I can see. And I think this is only the teeniest little tip of the iceberg. Reducing this and that by this little % here and that little % there is baloney. We have to end planned obsolesence - right away. We have to make a dramatic 180 degree turn around. Otherwise the planet is going to do it for us.

Art Bell (with someone else - sorry Art I forget who it was) wrote a scenario which they read live and put out in a taped book format. It focused on the fact that dramatically fast global warming -which is what's happening- can (and has in the past) caused a sudden global freeze by the interference with the Gulf Stream (I think I've got that right). It was a dramatization of what could very easily happen in the near future - like within years (not decades or ages) - like within a few years - according to their scientific research.

After I listened to that I saw newspaper articles about dinosaurs that had been thawed out (of melting glaciers) which still had undigested food in their stomachs caused by a fast freeze.

Some of the industrialized countries are taking serious steps to reduce their contribution to pollution that is the root cause of global warming. What was interesting about the movie was the high percentage of pollution coming from the U.S. and our refusal to take meaningful steps to reduce our contribution to this problem.

Our president made his fortune on oil. His daddy before him did the same. their closest friends both here and abroad are oilmen. There is a special and odd relationship between the Bush family and the house of Saud, mentioned in the movie, that has tremendous influence on the administration of this country.

The environment is something that is easy to take for granted. We will ignore the warning signs for a few more decades. Then some of the major issues that are predicted will begin to occur and it will be too late. The most prime real estate in south Florida will disappear, Manhattan will be threatened with massive flooding. Then and only then will any of the leaders of this country pay any attention.

When the U.S. was a global moral leader, when the US did something, it followed that other countries did it as well. Now, that's become an excuse for not doing something - regardless of the % of pollution that the US directly and indirectly causes.

How about the US lead for a change to make the world a better place instead of pointing fingers about why we have to be first?

you'll likely hate this answer. the US is a tactics in the back of a lot of something of the international at the same time as it comprises coping with international warming and it truly is outcomes. In Europe operating example it truly is been on the proper of the political time table because the mid ninety's and major steps were taken to lessen greenhouse gasoline (GHG) emissions. a lot so as that at the same time as GHG emissions contained in the US and different parts of the international have risen they have fallen somewhat in the approach Europe. Europe and Japan are greatest the international in purifier technologies and larger gasoline performance, it truly is being exported international - sturdy for the economies of the exporting countries and larger for the surroundings. Of each and each and every of the major countries on the international there have been purely 2 that did not ratify the Kyoto Protocol - Australia and u . s . (the Kyoto Protocal is a international settlement to lessen greenhouse gasoline emissions). Australia has now applied it truly is own plan to take action on climate replace, the US has once back not on time taking action. on the present G8 summit President Bush stood remoted from the different international leaders and led to further extreme damage to the international attractiveness of the US.

U.S produces 40% of the world emission (pollution) and accounts for only 2.5% of the worlds population. U.S has never signed the Kyoto deal to reduce the emissions. U.S needs to get its act straight so the rest of world can have better air. Europe is zillion of years ahead when it comes to reducing air pollution. America needs a lot of catching up to do.

Other countries are more involved in fighting global warming than the US is. The fuel economy of cars in other countries is way more than it is in the US.

The US is one of the largest contributers to pollution, but certainly not the only one. It's something that can be written into trade policy.
