A door mat usually is a mat on the front of your house to that you wipe your feet on to keep the dirt of you the house.
But i suppose you could look at this as a metaphor
Normally people say they feel like a doormat when they've being used , alot like a doormat , to clean their feet, and leave you there , out on the front porch , in the cold , with no warm meal , or blanket.
I like to think of myself as a door mat , but not any ordinary doormat , i have that novelty font on the front of me that's says "this is the cats house , dont forget it" , These leaves me thinking that not only am i not the boss , but nor are the people who are using me , my cat will always be the boss.
you can interpret this metaphor however you like , it was suppose to be positive.
good luck

Well, a door mat is what sits on the ground in front of your door for people to walk on and wipe their shoes on. When someone calls you a doormat they mean that you let people walk all over you and let them take advantage of you.

Pretty much you let people walk all over you. You don't say no often if at all. Kind hearts make you into a door mat when someone wants something they come to you. Learn to say no and stand up for yourself, even if it means losing a so called friend such as her.
