I then took the two pills I had forgotten. And will take the next two today (as per prescrition instructions). My question is, what is the percent chance that one can become pregnant after missing two pills? Has it happened to any of you? I'm on the second pack since I started the bc. And the pills I missed were in week one. I know the doctors say that you can become pregnant, but is it really that serious or is it just a warning they have to give you?
Sorry for rambling...and thanks in advance for all your advice!

We used condoms for the whole first month of the new birth control pills. I hadn't been taking them before because I had my first son. After the first pack was done, we decided not to use condoms as we are a monogamous, and have no STDs. This is the first week of the second pack, and because of traveling, I had forgotten them. I would have no problem having another baby, it would not be a bad thing. I just want to know my chances.

I took two pills yesterday, and took two pills today, because that is what the insert in the birth control pill pack says to take if you miss two blue pills in week one or week two. I didn't just come up with that on my own.

It is still very possible to get preganant. Your body has not adjusted to the horomones yet, and depending on your ovulation time, it increases your chances of pregnancy.

When getting on the pill a little over a year ago i waited until i finished the 1st two packs before i started having unprotected sex. (this was advized by my doctor) i have missed quite a few pills here and there and have not used a back up method. but for you only being in your second pack, if it has been less than 3 days, i would go and get the morning after pill.

Yes you can become pregnant. Any pills missed in the first two weeks is crucial. The fact that you are only on your second pack makes the odds worse because your body can take a while to get fully adjusted to the pill. (up to three months)
I suggest maybe going on the patch or taking the depro shot instead if it is difficult for you to remember.
And of course birth control will not protect against HIV or STDS.
Good luck,
Dayna

Oops!
Do you know that doubling up pills the next day is to cause an abortion in case an egg got fertilized? I didn't know that for the first two years I was on the pill (a VERY long time ago). I was angry that nobody told me that!
I'm not saying you should think one way or the other, but since I am pro-life, I was very upset, and I think people should be told these things, in case they don't already know. Ya' know?

I went off the pill to have my son. It took me 4 months to get pregnant.
I was on the pill, and had missed a couple pills....and I thought, "Well, it took 4 months to get preggers with my son, so I'm probably okay."
I was pregnant.
So yeah, that is a very serious warning they give you.
Not to mention that they recommend using backup for the first (either week, or first month, depending on which doctor is doing the recommending) to give the pills time to "kick in" so to speak.

If you miss even one pill in the first week of the pack, you have a high chance of ovulating and becoming pregnant. You missed two in the first week.

I have a friend that is on birth control pills and she missed a month and she got pregant. She did something terrible by getting rid of it or killing it but that is her decision. I am pro life and that is wrong in my book. But she is a nice person and I just act like I don't know anything because I found out through someone else a female close to me. But to answer your question you can get pregnant if you miss pills. Just be careful they do protect you from getting pregant but not getting diseases or HIV. Just be careful that is all I ask.

yes, you can get pregnant by even missing one of your pills...no matter how long you have been on birth control. if you miss one pill (or even take it a lot later than usual) you really need to use another source of protection. girls ovulate at different times too...not everyone ovulates on the 14th day...so you really can't go by that either. i know all of this from personal experience
bottom line...birth control only controls birth if taken correctly

Once you miss them you render the rest effectively useless for the month. Missing 1 is all it takes to screw up your hormones and trick your body into ovulating.
There may be a chance, and larger than a 'slight' chance especially since your body is new to the pills.

This happened to me exactly the same way...and I am pregnant and having a baby boy :) I'm 5 months pregnant and I wasn't expecting this to happen. I have been with my boyfriend for only 7 months LOL. Yeah, I actually got pregnant 2 months after I started going out with my boyfriend. CRAZY! but it can happen, so be careful.
If YOU ARE pregnant, please don't have an abortion...it's the best thing that can happen to you!...I was going to have one but I couldn't do it. I told myself I wasn't going to be selfish and now all I can think about is my baby :)
