Honestly, NOT convinient and comfortable for a tired traveller. I wish they will improve.
But as the others have answered, at least the runways are capable of landing airplanes (during good weather, if I may add)

NAIA is THE BUSIEST airport in the Philippines...aesthetically, they aren't the best designed, but are capable enough. Diosdado Macapagal International Airport in Clark is competent. Another problem with Filipino airports is that they don't allow relatives to enter...although it is a good idea because the terminal is too full

I've only been to the Centennial Terminal or NAIA Terminal 2. I find it lacking in design vs. the airports of China & Singapore. It's really no hassle at all when you're trying to enter. You just follow the procedures & when you've been approved by security, just find a spot to lie down & wait for your flight to be called. I recently went to Changi, Singapore. It was awesome! They've got lots of stores inside the airport! I've never been to an airport like that. I wish we could build airports like that.
I've been to the original NAIA Terminal but only on the outside. Haven't really seen what it looks like inside but from what I've been seeing in the news, it's dilapidated, including the Domestic Terminal. I remember when I last went there way back in 1990 or 1991. It looked pretty common. You present your ticket to the guard, you have your luggage checked in & your carry ons screened, then you're inside the waiting area. Back then it was only PAL. I loved flying on their Fokker 50s. From what I've seen in You Tube, the terminal's improved. That's nice.
Philippine airports, from what I can tell, are built for simplicity. No matter how beautiful it looks on the outside, it's just plain simple on the inside. I still love going to the airports & don't really care much about it's state.

Oneiloilo ... in other airports, the airport fee and taxes are incorporated in the airline tickets. The airline then have to give the amount to the airport. In Manila and Jakarta, it is quite different as you have to pay the terminal fee by cash at airport counters. At the end of the day, they're all the same, they just have different methods of collection.

They are a little bit different ,but not so much that it is a bad thing. If you must wait around in an airport ,just try to remember to bring some reading material with you when you travel. All airports are bad to a point. I love your "pislat illong",,,,paalom. Please pardon my spelling.

They certainly need a LOT of improvement, especially the Terminal 1... it's just too old and outdated! Take a look at Kuala Lumpur's, Bangkok's, Singapore's and Hong Kong's airport... NAIA is just too old.

They are chaotic and the only airports in the world where I had to pay a terminal fee.
