You cant ever stop caring. The moment you have nothing and no one to live for is the moment you stop living. Even if you dont actually die, the life you have wont be worth living.
I know you must be going through some sh*t right now, but stick it out.

Caring about what? It is difficult to answer this question, "seriously" without additional information. I think you can stop caring about certain issues in life, while simultaneously continue to care about those you love for instance. Likewise, you might stop caring about someone you once cared about deeply, but continue to care about politics, or your children, or something totally unrelated. Personally, I hope there is always something in life for me to care about; it is what provides meaning in life.
If you are referring to "caring" about living: as in being so depressed then it's time to seek professional intervention and get some meds and/or therapy before you sink any deeper.

It takes a lot for me to stop caring, but it has happened, when a friend..stops calling,,,and doesn't reciprocate I don't like being used....

I stop caring when too many bad things happen to me. I don't stay that way for long though, luckily.
