Look my mom asked my dad to marry back in the 1970s (they are still married).
It is a great story to tell.
She said "for Christmas i want you to marry me or get me a diamond ring." Then my dad laughs and says "I thought I chose the cheap rout."

You are just asking. He has the option of putting it off. I would ask my husband if he wanted to marry, but he would just never say when, until one day he actually started thinking about a date. We've been married 2 years.

You could ask if you want. I assume you two have discussed marriage, or would this be a huge surprise for him?
As far as "forcing him" ......
Can me old fashioned, but you could always get knocked up and trap him into a marriage..... that's the old school way of doing it :)
At least if you ask - he has the option of saying "no".

I wouldn't but that is just me. I'm still a little old fashioned when it comes to that. If he wants to marry me he better ask, otherwise its sh!t or get off the pot.

just tell him that you want to be married and that you are just waiting on him to ask and getting impatient.....
If he doesn't ask, he probably doesn't want to get married.
