Cut them back fairly severely, so the tops are balanced by the roots. Make sure the roots fill at least 3/4 of the pot you put the plant into. Water carefully.

Here are some tips that haven't been mentioned: * If you can, try not to dig up your plants in the heat of the day--better to try for morning or evening. * As for the pots themselves--make sure there are drainage holes (very important, since you don't want to waterlog the roots). Cover the holes with crockery or something to keep the soil in. * As for the soil: If you'll be lifting the pots some, think about the lighter soilless mixtures. The good news is, they're easy for the plants to root in and are light. Bad news . . . they tend to dry out faster than potting soil. * If you do trim the roots, try not to hit the big ones. And when you place the plants in pots, make sure the soil you work with is moist and that you don't have to hammer it down (avoid compacting the roots). * Final idea--try a root stimulator (if you're still in the growing season) since that helps the little guys avoid transplant shock. Any nursery has this--it's liquid and you just mix a bit in with your watering. Hope this helps you! Have a great time in your new digs! Virginia

Take it out of the strawberry pot and then water it.If that doesn't help change the soil so that it has new nutrience then put plant grower in it.
