I had the same thing happen, I postponed getting medical insurance and then got pregnant. Do what I did, get help from the government. I am on Title 19, I think they accept all pregnant women and will cover the costs of everything plus the first five years of your childs life. That was my only option because to insurance companies pregnancy is a "pre-existing condition," and it is rare to find one that thinks otherwise. I felt like I shouldn't be getting government help, but by the same token, this is what I need to do to make sure that my baby is properly cared for.
Good Luck!

Here are 4 ways to find maternity coverage for you to explore:
1. Student Status: If you happen to a college student, your university’s health center may be able to help you with a few leads.
2. Find Group Coverage: You can look into group health plans that will offer you coverage during your pregnancy –either by taking a job that provides an employer-sponsored health plan that includes maternity coverage or by finding a group health plan through your local chamber of commerce or a professional organization you belong to (or are eligible to join) that will cover maternity expenses.
Note: The above also applies if you’re currently covered by a COBRA Health policy that will have expired by the time you give birth; because it’s not possible to extend COBRA coverage past its end date.
3. State Programs: You might be able to find insurance if you're lucky enough to live in one of the states (California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Virginia and Washington, Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, New Mexico, etc.) that cover pregnant women under the CHIP or Children's Health Insurance Program. The CHIP Program is a jointly administered federal/state health plan that provides medical benefits for children whose parents can't afford insurance but who make too much for existing welfare programs.
Note: Once your child is born, you may also be eligible to obtain health insurance coverage for them under CHIP. Furthermore, if you’re the parent of a CHIP-eligible child, you may also qualify for healthcare coverage under the program in some states.
4. Explore Medicaid Options: Medicaid may also be an option if you fall inside its income guidelines. Medicaid will accept you if you are already pregnant. But even if you are eligible for Medicaid it may still be a challenge to afford the costs of prenatal visits and delivery. The estimated cost of delivery alone is in the vicinity of $6,000.00 to $8,000.00 for routine pregnancies and the costs of high risk pregnancies is higher still.

if you work you probably have to get it from your job it's to expensive to pay out of pocket. You may qualify for state funded insurance if you go to your county insurance office. All major insurance covers maternity some insurances will require referrals for certain test or ultrasounds but they do cover everything considered medially nessacary. I'm high risk my insurance told me up front everything was covered but if I got optional tests done I would be billed for it. like testing for downs and other disorders on the baby and an amino was not covered. But everything else was.

The only one that will is going to be your state medical plan.I know because when I found out that I was pregnant which ended in miscarrige the day that I got the insurance. What you are going to havve to do or what I did was go to your local health department they will get you tested and insured and you will have to go to DHS to get it for the rest of the time.My husband makes good money(I don;t work outside of the home)and we qualified.THat's all you can do no priviate insurance will do it they consider it pre-esisting

Same thing happened to me I was able to get Medicaid through the state. Even though hubby and I both work but are not offered insurance and cannot afford private coverage.
Good luck! I would also call your OB and see if they can put you in touch with your states program.

Have you applied for medicaid. I have regular insurance through my employer but i have also gone ahead and applied for medicaid so that they can help me with anything that my insurance wont cover. If your income is too high and what not they will still consider you because you are pregnant.

if you don't work or cant afford to pay for it medicaid will cover you. Just go to your local welfare office and you should be able to get coverage even if you do have a job but cant afford it they will cover you it will take a few days for it to clear but until it does you can tell them when you go for your prenatal visits that you have it coverage but you are just waiting for them to send you a card and they should postpone your billing. Trust me I did it and my insurance covers all of my pregnancy needs including labor and delivery or any tests that I need.

first question is how old are you? and how much do you make a year and where you live. i know personal questions and i dont expect you to answer them to me but... if you dont make that much money you can get on state medical they provide for maternity... my sister used it for her first pregnancy and my other sister used it for both of hers. so i would try and get into the DSHS office. i know people dont like using it but when you need it it is there... they can also help with various of other things also. and get on WIC they will help you save money for making sure you have milk, cheese, eggs and such things while you are pregnant and provide formula after baby is born or if you choose to breastfeed make sure that you are getting certain nutrients you need to get... you can email me tho if you need more information. good luck tho

I would go for state care. If you cannot afford medical care then they should be able to help you out. I know you might not like the sound of welfare health care but if that is all you can get then sweety that's what you need to do.
