running between wickets has improved but not the speed of humans running on feet. so the average time taken to complete a run has remained the same or has decreased marginally
regarding increased no. or run outs well i would say, use of 3rd umpire is the real answer as now even mm difference can make a batsman out, whereas earlier he would have been given benefit of doubt.
regarding 3rd runs, well i would like to say, we have not been to australia in a long time, once we go there we would see a lot more 3 as grounds there are larger. in SA & in WI grounds are smaller so the batsmen dont have time to run 3 as the ball crosses the boundary. morever throwing techniques & biceps power of most fielders has increased tremendously in last few years. this has contributed to lesser no. 3 & increased no. of runouts.

coz balls are designed using wind mill and aerodynamic designs which reduces the friction .
batsman carry more weight of kits and hence are not able to run fast.
computer software and doppler effect radar calculate the speed of ball. software for calcualting the speed of batmen should be also incorporated .to study the effect of batsman kit
By the way what is the weight of paraphernalia batsman has on his body as compared to combat soldier
