Right is conservative. Left is Liberal.
Conservative features smaller government, less spending and solid national defence.
Liberal features are opposite. Large government and widespread programs. State run welfare. More government speending but more programs to assist taxpayers. Tend to weigh on the side on cation when potentialy going to war. Focus on Diplomacy before defence (historically)

Left means Far Left means Liberal, Center Left means Progressive, Centrist means Moderate or Independent, Center Right means Libertarian, and Far Right means Conservative have to know the balance of politics in this country.

Left means socialist right means fascist - communists were left wing whereas the US is right wing - liberals are in the middle.
Basically right wingers are selfish and want to keep everything for themselves whereas left wingers believe in living as a society and sharing.

In political terms right wingers would like to see capital punishment returned. Punishment to suit the crime ie life should mean life.. Left wingers are about as bad as the liberals, they envisage that the people should all be the same ie one social level with the exception of themselves. in other words, let the masses starve as long as we are alright.

having taken part in three miners strikes 1972 ,1974, and 1984-1985, i was always pointed out as being a left winger by the government ,the media,and the general public,if it means to stand by your beliefs i am truly on the left.

It means that if you are on the left wing you are more to socialisim and extreme left wing is comunisim (like rusia in the sovietit times) and if you are on the right wing it means that you are more to capitalisim wich is what most of the world is at the moment (like UK Germany and USA)
