(1/4)x + (3/2)x = 7

To get rid of the fractions, multiply everything by the LCD (least common denominator). In this case, the LCD is 4.

4(1/4)x + 4(3/2)x = 4(7)
x + 6x = 28
7x = 28
x = 4

x=4. combine like terms and then solve for x. 1/4 + 3/2 = 7/4.
7/4x=7 which is the same as x=(7)(4/7). the 7 cancels out leaving you with x=4. Check your work by plugging in 4 for x in the original equation.

1/4x + 3/2x = 7 combine like terms by adding the values
First get a common denominator
3/12x + 18/12x = 7 add the terms in front of the x's
21/12x = 7 divide each side by 21/12
x = 7

Assume question is:-
(1/4) x + (3/2) x = 7
x + 6x = 28
7x = 28
x = 4
You will receive conflicting answers because of lack of brackets. Those who answer then interpret the question in different ways , hence the different answers.
