There ARE fan made Couple and SL edits available for GH ( and some other soaps) they are Not 'offical"- I have bought 12 Luke & Laura ones from the first site I will list- most of the stuff is now available on dvd as well as vhs. She has some full episodes as well as anniversary specials, Interviews and fan events.

I doubt it. It would not be very cost effective to do so. Aren't there over 100 new episodes a year? Just think what a year's worth of episodes would cost considering 22/23 episodes of shows like Lost and 24 run around $40. You'd probably be looking at upwards of $200 just for one season of episodes for some of these soap operas. I doubt many folks would be interested in spending that much on a year's worth of DVDs of their favorite soaps.

It would be nice, and the cost for it is going to come around so that it will be possible. Blue-ray technology will allow entire seasons of regular shows ( 26-30 episodes) plus extras, meaning that a 5 disc set can allot a years worth of info. Only downside, is the price of the discs are around $20 a piece right now so you would be looking at with footage 150 - 200 a year. That coupled with the fact that it's been on forever they would have to release one year a week for almost an entire year to get it out, or once a month for clear to half a decade.

It would be nice though to go back and see how it started and back story for those of us that haven't been watching more than 10 years or so...

I don't think they'll ever come out with soap opera seasons on DVD because most of these shows have been on for 20+ years, that's A LOT of seasons and A LOT of money to spend, both for the studio and the fans. If you really want your shows on DVD, I would suggest that you yourself tape them, because I think you'll be waiting a long while for the DVDs to come out. (BTW, I've watched G.H. off and on for 15 years, so I feel your pain! :) )

No, because the execs are too short-sighted. It wouldn't be possible to put every episode ever on DVD, but collections such as The Best Of Luke & Laura or somesuch could really turn a nice profit. But they're not willing to look into it because they see soaps as the bastard stepchild of television.

I would love to see Another World come to DVD but I think the editing it would take to get a long-term soap into a marketable form would not be cost-effective.

Until it is, I'll have to keep surfing YouTube.

They would be way too expensive. Regular 1 hour shows with 22 episodes can cost 50-60 bucks so imagine what the soaps would cost. It would be nice if they put out weddings and things like that like they used to. I have a AMC, OLTL, and GH wedding tapes from the late 80s early 90s and they did a hottest men tape too.

It's a longshot for them to come out on DVDs....there would have to be countless DVDs made for all the episodes of the soaps.

The daylight hours Emmy Awards sucked! even with the very undeniable reality that i did not watch both educate, I felt like One existence to stay nor All My children gained a perfect tribute. The youthful and lower than pressure (my renowned educate) changed into thoroughly snubbed assume for the actress who performs Lily (who's between the weaker actresses on the educate). also, I hate that the educate wasn't picked up by using community television. HLN? Please! This broadcast turned right into a slap contained in the face to the market and its followers.

I agree!! I thought it was kind of weird not being able to buy a DVD of my favorite soaps. You know like year 1970, 1971, etc :o).
