Most likely bad wheel bearings. Easy way to check is to raise the car, and note the play in the axle. There should be very little.
An additional sanity check is when the bearings fail, they almost always damage the axle seal. Take the drum off, and look for leaking oil around the axle, running down the backing plate. Make sure you replace the seal when replacing the axle, it's no fun trying to stop a car with a grabbing rear brake due to oil contamination.

If the noise is comming from just the side that the guy fitted the shaft, it could be either wheel bearing? did he fit a secondhand shaft from a breakers yard? if so and there was no noise before then he has either knackered the bearing, or if there was a bearing on the shaft he fitted then the bearing has definetly gone. I wasgoing to say brakes but its more squeaking, scoring noises. Yep im 99.9% sure its wheelbearing.

Let me know how you get on.

brake pad, rotor or drums are wearing out. My motor vehicle has a tiny piece of steel interior the pad, whilst it gets low the little piece will initiate making the noise to stay away from from ruining something of the brakes. i might take it in to get fastened asap. it would be as low as a hundred.00 *in accordance to the brake verify categorized classified ads.
