Women shouldn't receive alimony for any reason. What happened to women's liberation? "I am woman hear me roar".

No, and I don't know of any state in which he would have to pay alimony if he has proof. Most states are trying to do away with alimony altogether, some have. Most cases where you see it are because one person is not as physically capable of working as when they were married, or because someone gave up developing a career of their own to help, support, or work toward the other's goals, business, etc. Even at that, I think in a lot of places you have to have been married at least 10 years.

Conflict or anger itself does not have to cause an irreparable rift between partners. With good communication skills and a shared commitment to a marriage, even these are surmountable. How to save your marriage https://tr.im/u69I2

However, at that point where one partner is at the brink of abandoning the relationship, how can the remaining partner save their marriage? If you are at the point where your spouse has asked for a divorce, what can you do?

You must realize first that, you do have a choice. Often, when confronted by a crisis, we find ourselves backed into a corner thinking we have no choice in the matter. How can we change the situation when it involves another person's feelings or decisions? While we cannot, must not and in no way manipulate, blackmail or threaten our partner into changing their mind, we can actually control how we react to the situation. If anything, you must realize that you still have control over yourself. You have the opportunity to look inward and take responsibility for your own feelings and actions and even have the chance to take personal inventory of what your partner is trying to tell you. Are there points in your marriage that must be changed? If so, respond appropriately and proactively.

I'm a woman, and I think alimony is wrong. Women want to be taken as equal, then act like it! Alimony is so archaic, it's insulting.

It really depends on the laws of the state where you are terminating the relationship (getting the divorce). Some states allow it in spite of the reasons for divorce, some don't, some states don't grant alimony at all, while others allow spousal support for a limited time period.

Seriously?? I would hope that would never happen. She basically ended the marriage, created the grounds for divorce, so no alimony.

I have seen it happen. I don't agree with it, but Alimony is not based on "fault" it's about seperation and assistance in transitioning yourself to a new life, and laws depend on the state you are in.

in my state, if you were married longer than 7 years, you are entitled to alimony, and it goes both ways (if a guy had a sugar mamma) based on income, etc.

Additional alimony is awarded if there were sacrafices made in job, etc. in order for the other partner to progress easier in their job, etc.

in other words the doctors wife who waited tables to put him through medical school is entitled to support for doing so for a period of time (so that she may better herself during the time....turnabout is fair play)
