What's the effect of pepper spray to insects?

Will I drive the insect away or just provoke them further?
example: scorpions & black widow spider

Maybe it would have an irritating effect. Remember they don't sense the way we do.....they "smell" with their feet. Just be certain to experiment outside! Glad I'm not your neighbor, not something I'd want floating around the air.

You might have better luck spraying horticultural oil, at least on the spiders, as it plugs their air ports along their body.
