This is why they play the games, my friend.
New York beat up Cleveland in the regular season, and we see those games meant nothing.
Playoffs are a whole different ballgame.

Well seeing as how the playoffs and regular season are completely different...and since it isn't round-robin the Yankees and Red Sox didn't meet this year in the playoffs so the Yankees never beat the Red Sox in the playoffs....so no, you are wrong...thats like saying since the Yankees beat Cleveland 6-0 in the season series they will win the division series...it just doesn't work that way...the Red Sox and Indians are two very good teams and either of them have a chance to go to the World Series...it comes down to who plays better because both teams match up well...I think the Sox will win because they are playing the best ball they have played all season...Sox in Six!

No, sounds good but doesnt work that way. Give you an example. Tampa Bay Devil Rays are the worst team in baseball, the Boston Red Sox won the American League East, for the 2007 season The Yankees easily beat the Red Sox head to head, yet against Tampa, Tampa beat the Yankees.

Boston paid big bucks to get relief pitcher Eric Gagne to Beantown and let's face it he blew it, yet again, on Saturday night. Can the beaners battle back after losing home field advantage to the upstart tribe? They'll have to if they want a shot at a second World Series title in four years.
Tonight's game in Cleveland runs at 7 p.m. EST and sees Japanese odd-baller Daisuke "Dice-K" Matsuzaka (0-0) face Jake Westbrook (0-1). Neither pitcher has played all that well in the post season, with ERAs of 5.79 and 10.80 respectively.
Boston is favored to win (-123) despite the fact the Indians only lost 29 times at home all season. The Over/ Under sits at just 10 despite there being two inexperienced postseason pitchers on the mound and the fact that the teams combined for a whopping 32 runs in the first two games.
The last game at Jacobs Field was more like the apocalypse than a ball game, with a swarm of insects surround the stadium, rattling New York Yankees ace Joba Chamberlain, and laying the way for a come from behind Indians win in Game 2 of the ALDS.
"I did bring along some bug spray," says Matsuzaka, who pitched a 1-0 shut out victory the last time he played on the road in Cleveland.

In all fairness, don't you think enough has been said about the Yankees in the playoffs? They lost! Forget them for now. Focus on the Indians and Red Sox. It's their time to shine.
It's going to be a great series. The winner should win the world series. Both are better teams than either the Rockies or the D-Backs.
I'd like to see the Indians win.

no sometimes pitching is a problem maybe there was injuries consider all of these facts yes you beat the yankees who are a very good ball club but you also lost to the yankees all year so... obvious logic isnt really a great way to determine a winner now is it because in that case well you should have lost to the yankees! Its going to be a hell of a series to watch!!!

If we learned anything from the NYY/CLE series, it's that you can throw all that sort of logic out the window - this is a whole new series.
Just like when all the NY fans were saying they swepth Cleveland during the season and would do the same in the playoffs.
While I do hope that Cleveland wins, it'll be because our guys outplay Boston. We can only hope Boston underestimates the Tribe the way the Yankees obviously did.

You forget that Cleveland was 0-6 against the Yankees during the regular season. It's the playoffs. Anything can happen.

Boston fans, don't think that AL Championhip is already won. Remember anything can happen in the play-offs. How many baseball fans didn't think Indians would get past the Yankees & they did so play the games & win don't just assume Boston is going to take the series.
