I don't have any kids yet but my mom always read to me nightly and I think it's the main reason I ended up being so good at reading and writing and got a degree in Journalism. Problem is I suck at math, lol. Oh well -- the books I liked that she read to me most were:
Goodnight Moon
and
Where the Sidewalk Ends

my parents never sang or read to us before bed time.we[my hubby and i] used to read to our kids when they were little.
