Absolutely. The drinking age doesn't mean anything and the people who support it have demonized alcohol and cannot be trusted for impartial judgement.

Well, lowering the drinking age would be a good exchange for raising the driving age. I mean why make someone that is an adult at 18 wait 3 more years to drink when we allow 16 year old kids behind the wheel of very powerful vehichles everyday. By the way, if the drinking age should remain at 21, then lets raise the driving age, voting age and age to be able to enter the armed forces to 21 also....these are all activities that should be done so responsibly correct?
* I am in no way saying that drinking and driving or drinking at any age is a GOOD thing, I am just saying that it is an activity that should be done responsibly as other activities should be.*

Yes. The US has the highest drinking age of any country other than India(25 years old there I believe). This is all caused by prohibition. People are paranoid about drinking in this country. It may be true that it is a cause for many deaths every year but I believe it has more to do with other factors. Just look at France or Germany. They have lower drinking ages but have fewer drunk driver death's than the US.
Why is this? I believe it has to do with the fact that driving tests in those countries are MUCH harder. Here any fool can run down and get a license. People also take driving a lot more seriously there, they view it as a perk, a responsibility. Here we see driving as something that "should be given to us", something expected. In other countries driving is a perk.
Although I don't think there are any good arguments against lowering the drinking age, there are none FOR it. It is more of a lifestyle choice. People should really decide for themselves(or their parents for them, although I see problems there too). For those who said that there is underage drinking anyway, I completely agree. It is sad, but it's a fact that most people have tried alcohol before they even reach college age. There isn't much you can do about so I believe that instead of demonizing drinking we should allow it and control(like Amsterdam has done with weed). Make people respect it, understand it, make sure they see both sides of what they are dong and know that there are consequences!
I believe the same for Marijuana!

no they shouldnt.
alcohol is a drug. If the drinking age is lowered, why not lower the age for purchasing ciggarettes or getting a license at a younger age. The current drinking age is set for a reason; although most people disrespect this law - it is in place for a reason. Alcohol can be addictive and damages your body. Imagine how many predators will be lurking around for the younger "more vunerable" drunken teens that are now out and about because the law says they can do so.
sorry ranting - too tired to make sense haha.

No, because many young people, even some of legal age, think the are invincible and drink themselves to death. They don't have the maturity to drink wisely.

Its hard to say. I feel like people are so irresponsible as it is with drinking, but then again... if a person can die for our country, they should be able to drink a beer I think!!

No, not at all. The American Medical Association has a great page that describes why.
