Would like the added boost, came close to tripping the breaker when we had the dishwasher, stove, dryer, plus a hair dryer and curling irons running.

If you have no idea don't answer, putting in a new service does not require new outlets in the house and work can be done yourself, all I ask is how much it would be ballpark to have a new line carrying 200A from the pole to the meter, the rest I can do or get an electrician.

actually they would only do an upgrade from their power line to your service wires at the weatherhead where they would connect their wires to your wires...you will have to put in a 200 amp meter base as well as a 200 amp breaker box in your home including all the wiring from the weatherhead through the meter base and into your breaker box...then you have to get this inspected no matter who does the work you or a contractor...at least aep does not charge you to upgrade that is the electric provider in our area...they also provide free meter bases to anyone...but they will not do no wiring other than from their pole to your service wires at your weatherhead

You need a new 200 amp service drop installed from the top of the house to the meter and the new 200 amp breaker panel installed. In some towns, you need a city inspection before the Electric company will put the new 200 Amp service from the pole to the house. Most towns require a licensed electrician to do the service drop. A standard service drop from a licensed electrician should cost around $400 depending on how much has to be replaced. The Electric company should not charge for the service change.

I dont think it costs money from the electrical provider to upgrade. Usually they dont upgrade unless it is absolutely necessary. They dont go by the NEC they have their own rules as to how big the wires need to be. Usually smaller then the electrician is required.

They wont do it until the electrical panel is upgraded. They may upgrade your meter socket to a 200 amp and the electricians work together with the power company to do this at the same time.

That way you only lose power to your house once and the service is completely safe.

Only a contractor can upgrade your service from the wires coming into the meter to the panel. YOU can not do this period. And you are looking at well over $1k for a service upgrade.

First you have to hire an electrician to upgrade your panel and possibly your service cable. Then the power company may need to run a new drop to your meter. The power company usually don't charge you for that, but you'll have to pay the electrician. The cost is not set it will depend on the particulars of your specific conditions.

the power company will not increase you amperage until the service panelhas been upgrade. You cannot hook up 200 amps to 100amp panel.
The there actually should little or no charge. However even if you can do it yourself you will still have to have an inspection before the power company will turn on the power.

I agree. The power company doesn't do the work. An electrician will need to run some new outlets and wiring. A new breaker box will probably be needed.

I have a great idea. Call them and ask them. Why would you ask on here? How do you come close to tripping the breaker? How close was it?
