"I don't know" and "It wasn't me" out of my house?
I am tired of these two living here rent free.

Everytime something gets broken, my grandkid's answers are, "I don't know" or 'It wasn't me'.

It's not going to happen. I have been trying to find those 2 for over 30 years, but I thought they lived in my house. OMG, they have siblings and are at your house too.--- help us all!!

When you find out let me know I have exactly the same problem along with "its not my turn" and "you're the selfish one" My kids not grandkids, they are still too young.

Example from this morning.
Son (19) yrs old) ==" mum run me down the video shop I have some to take back and I wanna get some games"

Me== "sure no worries I just want a cuppa tea before I go, how about making me one while Im on the computer"

Son " GET YER OWN TEA"

I rest my case.

Sorry about your mess. I knew when my son returned from the army he would drive me crazy--I paid 3 months rent on a house, I furnished it, filled it with dishes and about 400 dollars worth of food, also installed a shower--a nice little 2 bedroom, good appliances etc. Fenced yard and even got him a lawn mower. He was home for 6 weeks and going to 'his' house to party and coming back to mine to flop at all hours of the night. Met him at the door one early am and told him to move his junk or it would be in the yard by night fall and the locks would be changed. It worked. there comes a time.

First I think you need to have a sit down with them and tell them you are ready to have your home back all by yourself. Some people can be very hard to get rid of when there is free food and rent. You might have to evict them if they don't go on their own.

Give them an eviction notice, 30 days and they are out. On the 29th day have the locksmith come out and change the locks. They are there because you have allowed them to be there, they may not believe that you will actually kick them out because you have tolerated them for this long. Make sure that you can follow through because if you back down then you will NEVER get them out. MEAN WHAT YOU SAY AND SAY WHAT YOU MEAN.

It's time for you to stop being an enabler.

I believe the answers you have received here are correct. I know it takes a lot to do it, but you must, for your own sanity.

You have earned this time in your life to do as you wish and not have to be responsible for someone else.

Give them the boot, like yesterday!

My dad used to call that person "Mr. Youwhodee' !..the little man who wasn't there! LOL

'fraid you just have to let them keep spilling the milk on the floor; eating up the last Oreo and that Coke you were saving; taking the remote; etc etc etc....One day he'll just disappear...just around the time the kids do!

If you're talking about attitudes:
Don't ask who did it - expect everyone to pitch in and fix the problem, whatever it is. That might help get rid of Not Me. Ida Know is a much harder case. She eventually fades away. You have to ask direct questions and push 'til you get an answer.

If it's adult kids, give 'em a deadline and send them packing. I have one left who will get the boot when he finishes college.

I can so relate, they came into this world as "trust me" and "nothings gonna happen" but it wasnt long before they became "I dont know" and "it wasnt me" then they morphed into "later mom" and "give me a break".

I couldnt budge those critters no matter what I did to convince them life is good OUTSIDE the nest.

So I sold my house and moved about 900 kilometres to another city.

"Trust me" aka "later mom" showed up on my doorstep six months later - but he got the shove real quick because I was tired of coming home from work to his messes.

I just opened the door and said "so long, away you go, try your fathers house" and handed him a bus ticket.

I used to have a story book about Nobody. The mommy would ask the kids who left the dirty fingerprints on the walls and the kids would reply "nobody"! I bet that Nobody is related to It Wasn't Me and I Don't Know!
